Portable Wastewater Treatment Plant

The Suva based consulting engineers for Goodman Fielder International's chicken processing factory upgrade called for EOI for a portable wastewater treament system to to treat the wastewater from the factory staff facilities.

Hydraulic loading: 23 m3/day

Effluent Requirements:

BOD5 20 mg/l

Suspended solids 30 mg/l

Total Nitrogen 15 mg/l

Ecological technologies' offer of a PMT Ecodisk was accepted. The system offered was a rotating biological contactor with an integral primary tank to minimise civil works. To achieve the TN requirement the system was conservatively loaded at 8 grams BOD / m2 of disk area and 50% of the mixed liquor was recirculated through the primary tank.
